How do you get rid of burnt marks on non stick cookware?

I have got blackish marks on my cookware and I have tried soaking it in hot water but the marks are still there. And what is the best type of cookware that does not stick?

I soaked fabric softener (sheet) in the pot overnight and it should take care of the burnt marks.
