The electric store does not help but I srub with a mild cleanser and then apply a thin coat of olive oil. There has to be something I am missing I hate the scale on the bottom of my cookware

If your cookware is hard anodized or infused hard anodized, stop coating with oil. The oil will make it blacker and more stained. Instead, clean with the scrubby side of a scotchbrite sponge. Keeping the stovetop clean will help, but hey….every cook will tell you….a clean looking pan is an unused pan.

Try Mr. Clean erasures–they look like white sponges.

The oil on the bottom of the pan is burning and staining your pans. Pans will get dirty on the sides and even underneath…. hey, it’s part of what happens when you cook. Clean the best you can… and make sure the cooking service is clean at least.

Vinegar and baking soda will clean the bottom of your cookware.
Oil on the bottom will burn.

I’ve never heard of putting oil on the bottom of your pans. Inside a wok, yes, but not under pans. This is probably why you’re not able to keep the pans clean. As soon as you heat your burner, the oil will mess up the pan. Try leaving off the oil and clean with a cleaner to remove the residue and then go from there.

Take a lemon half and some kosher salt……sprinkle the salt on the bottom of the pad and scrub with the lemon…..

    works great on cutting boards-wood
    and coffee pots also

The oil is for seasoning the inside of cast iron pans
