What is the best cookware to get?

I am moving out and want to get a quality set of cookware, but what's the best? I've seen stainless steel, try-ply stainless steel, non-stick, and hard-anodized. Money is not an issue because I understand that it is worth the money to get a quality set of cookware.
I am concerned about the cookware that is the nonstick coating. While I don't mind handwashing it as suggested, I am concerned about scratching which can resulting in the chemicals being released in the cooking.

Many, many years ago my husband bought me a set of Calphalon Cookware. It is still like new-nothing burns,or sticks on it. It cooks very evenly and washes easily by hand. It is dishwasher safe and can be put in the oven. I highly recommend it! It is very costly but worth every dollar.

You should completely avoid plastic because once it gets old you have to stop using it and i dont advise wooden, I would say a good quality type of METAL it would last longer and some wood is good too

i agree its worth the money to go ahead and buy a good quality set…one of my favorite places to buy great cookware is on QVC. I have a set of good quality 18/10 heavy duty stainless cookware and i also have a set of the non stick hard anodized…i use both in everyday cooking…for starters i would buy a set of stainless and at least one quality non stick skillet…

i have the wolfgang puck 18/10 stainless bistro set and i also have cooks essential nonstick hard anodized…i love them both!

Stainless steel is the best way to go. I love sets with copper on the bottom, it really helps keep the heat distributed evenly.

When we got married, (at age 47) my aunt gave me a CIRCULON pan. This is the very best cookware that I have ever used and if I ever buy anything else, it will be Circulon. NOTHING sticks to it and I wash it in the dishwasher nearly every load. It’s been 4 years now and this pan still looks like it is brand new. I love it! I love it!
