Look on Ebay, Type in Wenezl 1887. There is a kit that includes:

1. DUTCH OVEN 6 qt. capacity, Heavy-duty bail handle with center notch, also trivet included.

2. SKILLET SET - 2 pieces, set includes 10-1/2" and 12" skillets. Right & Left puor spouts.

3. GRIDDLE, 20" long x 9" wide. Reversible - griddle side and broiler side. Double handles.

4. LID LIFTER, Durable lid/pot lifter handle.

Also, type in cast iron on ebay there are alot of other ideas.

Do a search for "cast iron cookware" and look for sets. If you buy each piece alone you may have to sell one of the kids to pay for them. There is a lot of junk on the market so be careful.

Oshman's has a nice set just like you are describing. But, I would think if it's a large family, the dutch oven would be the best place to start. My friend just bought one off of e-bay that was 8.5 quarts, with a flat bottom and wire handle...shipped to his door, it was only around $45 or less. It even had a lid that would hold coals in case you were cooking over an open fire, and it had a steamer basket with it also. We were really impressed b/c they shipped it immediately. The brand was some name that had to do with cajuns or bayou cooking or something, but it was plenty heavy and thick.

I just can't help but think that with 8 family members, the larger, the better. You may want to see about investing in an even larger pot than 8.5 quarts.
